Department Organization and Committee Structure


Governance of the Mathematics Department at Angelo State University is based upon an organizational structure consisting of an Executive Committee, Tenure and Promotion Committees, a Director of Developmental Mathematics, and four Area Coordinators. Additional ad hoc committees will be established for specific needs by the Executive Committee.

Executive Committee

Membership: The Executive Committee will consist of the Department Head and those members of the department faculty who The Department Head will chair the Executive Committee.

Fuorum: At least two-thirds of the Executive Committee must either be present to vote, or have cast their vote in absentia, in order for a motion to be considered.

Functions: The Executive Committee shall establish policies critical to departmental governance. In particular, the Committee shall have final authority in all departmental matters involving The Executive Committee shall establish ad hoc faculty committees as described above.

Tenure and Promotion Committees

The membership and function of the tenure and promotion committees are specified in the Faculty-Staff Handbook and the Departmental Procedure for Faculty Promotion (attached).

Director of Developmental Mathematics

The Director of Developmental Mathematics shall be responsible for general oversight of the developmental mathematics program. Duties include

The four Area Coordinators shall be responsible for organizing and coordinating Departmental activities in their respective areas. They shall report to the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee shall review this document periodically and make appropriate changes as circumstances warrant.
