The Department of Mathematics invites you to join us for the Mathematics Seminar.
This week’s presentation will be:
Perfect Probabilities from Imperfect Places
presented by Dr. John Smith III
Tuesday, September 12, 3:30 P.M., in MCS 210
Even the most well-balanced die has some imperfections that results in a less than completely fair probability model. In this talk, we will develop a strategy for using horribly balanced objects to generate accurate probabilities. The talk will culminate in throwing stuff around, so you won’t want to miss it. It should be accessible to anyone who has had graduate courses in probability theory and combinatorics, or perhaps just college algebra.
