2015 Rammys

The Rammys are an annual awards ceremony hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA) in conjunction with the Student Life Office that honors registered student organizations, student leaders along with faculty and staff who have made outstanding contributions to Angelo State University and the San Angelo community throughout the academic school year.

Students, faculty, and staff involved with registered student organizations influence student life, leadership development, school spirit, and community engagement every day. The SGA and Student Life office realize the importance of these qualities and their unique ability to enhance the overall quality of the campus experience. Therefore, we take this opportunity to reward those registered student organizations which make the biggest difference in the lives of students.

All registered student organizations are invited to attend this event which features dinner and the presentation of various awards. The attire for the evening is cocktail attire. 

The Student Life Office and Student Government Association appreciate congratulate all of this year’s nominees and winners!

2015 Rammys recipients

Promising Male Leader of the Year Award Winner is Dylan Meador nominated by Air Force ROTC

These awards go to a male and female student that has shown great leadership potential within the University and within his or her organization. These students must demonstrate an overall ability to lead in a productive manner with emphasis on dedication and commitment and they must be in good standing with the University. 

Advisor of the Year Award (tie) Winner is Captain Jason Naaktgeborn nominated by Arnold Air Society

This award will go to an advisor of a registered student organization who has shown immense commitment and enthusiasm for the organization.  Going above and beyond the requirements of the organization he or she advises, and truly dedicated to the organization and its members.

Most Spirited Organization Award Winner is Arnold Air Society 

This award is to recognize the organization that has exhibited the most school spirit throughout the year.  This organization has demonstrated “Ram Pride” and striven to enhance the campus community by supporting University programs traditions, events, and fellow student organizations. 

2015 Rammys Advisor of the Year Award

Advisor of the Year Award (tie) Winner is Mr. Ian Brown nominated by Kappa Delta Rho

This award will go to an advisor of a registered student organization who has shown immense commitment and enthusiasm for the organization.  Going above and beyond the requirements of the organization he or she advises, and truly dedicated to the organization and its members.

Honor Society of the Year Award Winner is the Honors Student Association 

This award goes to the honor society that recognizes academic excellence and leadership. This organization must have a cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 among all its members.

Dr. E. James Hindman Award Winner is Honors Student Association

This award recognizes the overall organization of the year. The organization must have demonstrated strong leadership, creativity, initiative, and perseverance. This organization also must have made a meaningful contribution to the students, the University, and to the surrounding community.

2015 Rammys Promising Female Leaders of the Year Award

Promising Female Leaders of the Year Award Winner is Aimee Denham nominated by Honors Student Association

These awards go to a male and female student that has shown great leadership potential within the University and within his or her organization. These students must demonstrate an overall ability to lead in a productive manner with emphasis on dedication and commitment and they must be in good standing with the University. 

Outstanding Community Service Award Winner is Honors Student Association

This award is to recognize the organization who has sought out to serve not only Angelo State University but the San Angelo community as well.  The organization will be selected based on contributions and participation. 

2015 Rammys Special Interest Organization of the Year Award

Special Interest Organization of the Year Award Winner is the University Center Program Council (UCPC)

This award goes to the special interest organization that has demonstrated commitment to their purpose and mission through its activities and events for members at Angelo State University and the community. This organization provides an outlet for interests not typically addressed by other organizations. 

Quiet Influence Award Winner (tie) is Mrs. Linda Boatright nominated by University Center Program Council (UCPC)

This award will go to a faculty or staff member that has shown great dedication to the well-being of the students at Angelo State University, but has often gone unrecognized for his or her services.

2015 Rammys Academic/Professional Organization of the Year Award

Academic/Professional Organization of the Year Award Winner is Tri-Beta

This award goes to the academic organization that displays the academic excellence of Angelo State University and its students. This organization preserves the academic merit of Angelo State University as well as motivates its members to succeed in their field of study.

Quiet Influence Award Winner (tie) is Dr. Russell Wilke nominated by Tri-Beta 

This award will go to a faculty or staff member that has shown great dedication to the well-being of the students at Angelo State University, but has often gone unrecognized for his or her services.

2015 Rammys Club Sports Organization of the Year AwardClub Sports Organization of the Year Award Winner is the Handball Club

This organization allows ASU students to compete against other universities in non-NCAA sporting events. This award is given to an organization that is not only successful in competition, but also strives to uphold the integrity of Angelo State University throughout their competing season. To nominate your organization for this award, please provide a resume which includes: tournaments competed in, win & loss records, campus support, and any other pertinent information as well as a 250 word essay describing why your organization should receive this award. 

2015 Rammys Greek Life Organization of the Year

Greek Life Organization of the Year Award Winner is Delta Zeta

This award goes to the fraternity or sorority which promotes Angelo State University in a genuine manner to their fellow students both on-campus and to their national organization. This organization must be in good-standing with the university, and exhibit good spirit and character throughout the year. 

 

2015 Rammys Multicultural/International Organization of the Year Award

Multicultural/International Organization of the Year Award Winner is Association of Mexican American Students (AMAS)

This award goes to the multicultural/international student organization which displays a sincere dedication to multiculturalism and diversity. The organization will be selected based on its ability and willingness to educate students about various cultures by hosting events and celebrating their traditions. 

 

2015 Rammys Service Organization of the Year Award

Service Organization of the Year Award Winner is Alpha Phi Omega

This award goes to the service organization that has demonstrated their service to Angelo State University and the surrounding San Angelo community. The organization will be selected based on their ability to provide ASU students with the opportunity to develop service leadership skills and engage in both campus and community development.

 

2015 Rammys Spiritual Life Organization of the Year Award

Spiritual Life Organization of the Year Award Winner is Sigma Phi Lambda

This award will go to the religious organization that provides Angelo State University with spiritual exploration and unites students of similar spiritual beliefs.  This organization must also represent the general ethics of Angelo State University in a positive and well-rounded manner.
