Hello! I am Linda Ferguson, and I have been at ASU for over 15 years! Before coming to San Angelo, I lived and worked in Nigeria, West Africa, in a mission hospital. When I returned to the U.S., I was really interested in health care systems for disadvantaged people in lesser developed countries. So, I pursued graduate education in community health at Indiana Wesleyan University in a unique program designed for missionary nurses practicing in diverse cultures around the world. Although I have never returned to Africa for a long term stay, I have been back several times on short summer trips and hope to do so again in the future.
For the last 12 years, I have directed my interest and passion for the medically underserved to my role as Project Director for the San Jacinto School Health Clinic. This clinic is operated by the Department of Nursing on the campus of the San Jacinto Elementary School. We provide excellent pediatric and primary care services to children and adolescents without health insurance and excellent clinical opportunities for students in all of our programs. I am also a volunteer with a local program for children called House of Faith. I am a camp nurse every summer and work with a group of elementary aged children in a weekly after-school club during the school year.
When I am not working, I enjoy gardening, knitting, reading and traveling.
