Second Degree A.A.S.N./B.S.N. Program
The current application cycle is now closed.
Selection Process
A number of factors, including regulatory agencies’ requirements, availability of clinical sites and university resources, dictate the number of candidates who can be accepted into the Second Degree A.A.S.N./B.S.N. program. Because the number of applications exceeds the number of candidates that can be admitted, each complete application submitted by the deadline of January 15, 2012 that meets the pre-admission requirements will be evaluated by a faculty committee. A number of factors are considered in the acceptance process, including:
- Non-nursing curriculum coursework grade point average (GPA)
- Number of non-nursing semester credit hours completed with a C or better
- Scores on ACT/SAT I
- Grades in anatomy, physiology and microbiology
- Personal statement
- Letters of recommendation
- Scores on the TEAS V test
Top-scoring candidates will be admitted into the Second Degree A.A.S.N./B.S.N. program and will receive written notification by March 20. These candidates must complete and return the acceptance form by the stated deadline, or their position will be forfeited.

Readmission
Students will no longer be enrolled in the Second Degree A.A.S.N./B.S.N. program if they have an interruption in the normal progression of their nursing studies as a result of withdrawal from a nursing course(s) in more than one semester, earning a grade lower than C in a required nursing or science course, or not being in compliance with other progression standards.
Individuals who request and are approved for readmission to the program may be reinstated only once. Recommendation from the nursing faculty and an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better are required for readmission. Readmission is on a “space available” basis and is not guaranteed.
