Ms. Lewis is a licensed physical therapist with 27 years of clinical experience in a variety of settings including acute care, outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, nursing home, long-term acute care and home health. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Baylor University and a certificate in physical therapy from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1972. She completed her Master of Science degree in exercise and sports science with a minor in industrial engineering at Texas Tech University in 1998. She has experience as a clinical instructor and Center Coordinator of Clinical Education in several settings working with both student physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

Ms. Lewis began her employment as ACCE at Angelo State University in September 1999. She is credentialed as a clinical instructor by the Texas Consortium and the APTA. She received her credentials from the APTA as a Credentialed Clinical Trainer in April 2002. Since that time, she has offered a number of peer-reviewed APTA Clinical Instructor Credentialing courses for local and regional clinicians. She has also offered several courses in ethics which have been approved by the TPTA for Continuing Education in Ethics. In July 2007 she completed the training to become an Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor and an Advanced Credentialed Trainer from the APTA. Ms. Lewis is currently serving a three-year term on the APTA Clinical Instructor Education Board. She is also the current president of the Central ACCE Consortium which includes physical therapist and physical therapist assistant education programs from Texas (Angelo State), Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and southwest Illinois.

Her teaching areas include Clinical Practicums I, II and III, Introduction to Clinical Education and Professionalism, Education and Communication for Physical Therapists, documentation and basic physical therapy skills. She also coordinates the Generic Ability Assessment process.

Her current research interests include assessment of the clinical education process.
