Curriculum Vitae

Mr. Pape joined the Physical Therapy Department in the fall of 2000. He came to the department after twelve years of teaching with the Physical Therapy Department at Southwest Texas State University (SWT) in San Marcos.

Mr. Pape began teaching physical therapy in 1983 when he joined Beverly Mashburn as ACCE and faculty member in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Austin Community College.

He took a position at Southwest Texas State in 1988 acting as the ACCE for the university’s BSPT program. In 1990 he assumed teaching responsibilities for Gross Anatomy and Neuroanatomy for the Physical Therapy and Communication Disorders programs. He participated with SWT faculty in the design and implementation of the curriculum for a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and was appointed to the Graduate Faculty in 1995. While at SWT, he taught neuroanatomy, gross anatomy and orthopedics in the physical therapy program. In addition, he taught undergraduate gross anatomy in the Radiation Therapy Program at SWT.

Mr. Pape graduated from Angelo State University in 1974 with his BS in Biology and taught in the Midland ISD until 1978 when he entered PT school at Texas Woman’s University. He was awarded his Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 1981. Mr. Pape practiced at Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital in Gonzales, Texas and was Director of Physical Therapy there until 1983.

Mr. Pape currently teaches in the areas of gross anatomy, neuroscience, and clinical orthopedics. He is active in the coordination of coursework throughout the MPT curriculum and serves as the co-Chair of the MPT Admissions Committee.

His research focus is in the reliability and validity of clinical applications in an orthopedic setting. With a primary emphasis on early involvement of students in all of his projects, Mr. Pape hopes to encourage future research in areas of clinical practice. As of this date, all of his students have successfully presented peer-reviewed research findings at state and national levels.
