Minor in Philosophy at Angelo State University

Requirements for a Minor in Philosophy

A minor in philosophy is especially recommended for students pursuing careers in law, theology, medicine, political science or the arts. This program provides a good foundation for your bachelor’s degree by adding a new dimension of understanding to your major field of study.

All minors must choose six courses (18 credit hours) in philosophy from the following list:

PHIL 2321 Critical Reasoning and Logic
PHIL 3310 History of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy
PHIL 3311 History of Modern Philosophy

PHIL 3314 World Religions from a Philosophical Perspective
PHIL 4311 Philosophy of Science and Technology
PHIL 4312 Philosophy of Mind
PHIL 4330 Great Philosophical Figures
PHIL 4360 Topics in Contemporary Philosophy
*PHIL 4331 Classical Political Philosophy
*PHIL 4332 Modern Political Philosophy
*PHIL 4333 Contemporary Political Philosophy
*PHIL 4334 Existentialist Approaches to Political Violence: From Kierkegaard to Sartre
