The Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work offers unique and exciting courses in the social and behavioral sciences, taught by enthusiastic and highly-qualified faculty. The undergraduate and graduate degree programs prepare students for a broad spectrum of careers in the public and private sectors that benefit from an understanding of human thoughts, feelings, and behavior.

The courses emphasize contemporary theories, research, and the useful application of knowledge to current problems experienced by people individually and collectively.

Topics include the core areas of psychology, sociology and social work as well as many specialties such as counseling, psychological testing, industrial psychology, child psychology, health psychology, criminology, juvenile delinquency, minority-group studies, and gerontology. Classes are popular among students because they feature interesting and challenging topics delivered in a personable atmosphere, and they incorporate modern multimedia technology. Also, students have the opportunity to earn academic credit by completing an internship in local human-service agencies.
