The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
The qualifications to become a Phi Alpha Member are as followed:
1. Declared Social Work Major (no minors or pre-social work students)
2. Overall G.P.A. of at least a 3.0
3. Social Work G.P.A. of at least a 3.25
4. Sophomore status
5. 8 hours of social work courses

Dues for Phi Alpha are currently $32, $20 for membership and $12 for the pinning ceremony and other events.
