Centennial Village Construction Updates
November 2007
Site and plumbing ground work are well underway as crews make preparations for the first major concrete pour on the site
December 2007
The contactor is preparing additional sites for the third concrete placement. Work crews have been busy excavating ditches, setting forms, installing vapor barrier material and placing post-tension cables. Plumbers are finishing up underground drain piping for section D and the Club House. Carpenters are finishing form work for the northwest electrical transformer pad. Contractors have begun receiving deliveries of lumber, siding, floor joists, electrical conduit and wiring in advance of framing mobilization.
January 2008
The concrete subcontractor will place the last major section of concrete at wing D on Wednesday. Framers have completed the second floor of walls and exterior sheathing at wing B and are scheduled to set trusses on Thursday. Other framing is progressing at wing C, with walls nearly complete on the 2nd floor. First floor wall framing on wing F is scheduled for later this week. The framing contractor is working 7 days a week on the project. Plumbers and electricians have completed most of the rough-in work at wing B. Electricians have moved to the first and second floors of wing C. Masons have erected the elevator shaft at wing B and are working on the corridor firewalls throughout the project. The contractor predicts that they will be ahead of schedule by next month.
February 2008
Roofing is underway on the B and C wing areas. Third floor framing is on-going at wing C and second floor framing is well underway on wing D. First floor framing is nearly complete on wing E. Plumber has routed drain and vent piping up to the third floor throughout wing B. Water testing for some plumbing pipes will begin in a week. Electricians have wired and installed panes for most of wing B and where framing is complete on wings C, E, and F. Exterior siding on the courtyard side of wing B is being installed. Crews are also installing exhaust ductwork.
March 2008
Work is continuing on all building areas at Centennial Village. Steel framing is in place for the building main entrance and lobby area. The third floor of this section will include a meeting room with spectacular views overlooking the campus. Sheet rocking is expected to begin this month in the B wing. Staircases in the B wing have been installed. Exterior brickwork has commenced at the B wing. Some redesign of the connection to the campus mall and parking lots has been approved.
April 2008
If you’ve been by the site lately, you can see that the building is really starting to look good! Several framing crews are working throughout the site, roof trusses have been installed on wing E and decking should begin this week. Approximately half of the building is now “under dry” with roofing in place. In wings B and C, sheetrock, drywall and mud work is moving along. Texturing is expected to start later this week. Bricklayers have finished the brick and cast stone veneer on the north side of wing B and are laying brick past the 1st floor on the south side. Portions of brick are also in place at the C wing. Siding crews are expected to complete work at the B and C wings this week. Several plumbing, electrical and mechanical crews are working at various locations throughout the building installing infrastructure including electric, data, and fire alarm lines.
May 2008
The contractor is working on completing interior finishes in wing B. Workers are installing final paint, millwork, lavatories, ceramic tile, doors and jambs. Electricians have begun installing plugs, switches and cover plates in the B wing. Next week, flooring is scheduled for installation in wing B. Bricklayers are working at several areas of the project. Electricians have been coordinating power with the local utility contractor and transformers have been set around the project during the last week. Power is scheduled to be established to interior panels later this week. The framing contractor, sheetrock and tape/mud crews have been working on furrdowns in the corridors in wings C and E. The mechanical contractor is finishing ductwork in wing F. Plumbers and fire sprinkler contractors have completed major piping projects in all wings. Gas line installation is on the schedule for next month.
June 2008
Work continues to progress at the Centennial Village construction site. Tile flooring has been installed in several wings and accent color paint is showing up on student unit walls. Cabinets, vanities, bathroom fixtures are all being installed. Furniture is scheduled for delivery in some wings in early July! The Convenience Store is also taking shape and will be ready to go for August opening. Priority is being given to student rooms, with common areas still scheduled for completion after fall semester begins. Work on parking lots is scheduled to be underway within the next month.
