Meal Plans

Your dining service is managed by Chartwells, a division of Compass Group North American, Inc., a nationwide food service firm working closely with college administration and students like you to provide a variety of nutritious menu options combined with personalized service for a pleasant dining experience.

Meal plans are optional for students assigned to on-campus apartments (Harvard House & Vanderventer Apartments). Students who reside in a residence hall are required to purchase a meal plan if they have less than 60 semester credit hours.

Types of Meal Plans:

Each Meal Plan includes $50 in RamPoints.

RamPoints is a feature included in the cost of the Meal Plan which allows you to make $50.00 in direct food purchases at the Cafeteria, the UC Snack Bar, or the Super Slab. To make a purchase using your RamPoints, simply present your ASU OneCard to the attendant and tell them you would like to use your RamPoints to make your purchase. They will swipe your card and the amount of the purchase will be deducted from your account.

Are part of the meal plan. Only people who purchase a meal plan have RamPoints.

All currently enrolled students have an active Ram Bucks account. To use the account, they need to add value (make a deposit). They can add value in the OneCard office in the Administration building using cash, check, money order, MC or VISA. They can add value using cash at the CSVT machines.

They can be used only for food purchases in the cafeteria, at the super slab, and in the UC snack bar.

Ram Bucks can be used for food purchases at all locations, can be used for snack and beverage purchases in selected vending machines, can be used to activate the laundry machines in the residence halls and VV, can be used for color laser printing in the MCS computer lab, can be used to make photocopies, can be used for purchases at the ASU Bookstore.

Unused RamPoints do not roll forward to the next semester.

Unused Ram Bucks carry forward from semester to semester as long as the student is enrolled.

RamPoints that are not used when a student leaves the university are not refunded.

When a student leaves the University and has a balance of $5 or more, they can submit a written request for refund.


The meal specifications at Angelo State University were designed with balanced nutrition in mind, but it is the students' responsibility to choose items which facilitate a healthy diet according to their individual needs.

Sack Lunch: No time to eat? Arrangements for a sack lunch due to class or work conflict may be made in advance through the Food Service Center at (325) 942-2352.

Special Diet: Please bring special dietary needs to the attention of the Chartwells' management team. They will be more than happy to work with you to create a special diet that meets your needs.

Transferability: Chartwells offers "transferability" for all meal card holders in the Snack Bar and Super Slab. This transferability is worth a specific amount of money towards food purchases in the non-resident operations. Transferability allows greater flexibility for the meal card holder. This option is limited to the specific hours listed under "Meal Transfer Hours." Chick-fil-A and Blimpie are excluded from the transferability. However, you can use your RamPoints to purchase products from this area.
