A Residential community designed for maximum interaction and socialization
We are happy to meet the needs of our students with our newest, $35 million, three-story residence hall that offers housing to about 400 students. This living facility is the closest residence hall to the heart of campus: the Mathematics-Computer Science Building, the Rassman Building and the recently remodeled Center for Human Performance are all just a short walk away.
Four residential buildings of approximately 100 students each comprise Plaza Verde. Each building has a first-floor laundry room, elevator and study room. A two-story Commons/Recreation Building has double staircases, the hall’s office, pool tables, a large-screen TV, a meeting and group study space and an elevator.
Plaza Verde has also been designed to be a “green” building, and is seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. The structure was created with sustainable materials, and its design accounts for energy efficiency as well as rainwater reclamation.
Double-room units include:
- Semi-private bathrooms with showers (residents only share with their roommate).
- Furniture for each student that includes a long twin bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, and desk and chair.
- Rooms surround and open to a vibrant shared “living room” lounge for hanging out, gaming, TV watching, studying and visiting. These spaces provide lots of opportunities to meet new people!
- Each room includes a micro-fridge, a combination microwave and refrigerator.
