Scholarships
National Air Force ROTC Scholarships
Nationwide four-year Air Force ROTC scholarships are available to entering freshmen. These Air Force scholarships pay full tuition and fees and a book allowance, plus a monthly tax-free subsistence depending on school-year classification.
Applications for these competitive scholarships must be submitted by Dec. 1 of a student’s senior year in high school. To apply, visit the Air Force ROTC Web site.
These scholarships are also available for up to three years to students already enrolled in the ROTC program.
Students who want to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering may begin their studies at Angelo State University and transfer this scholarship to an ROTC-approved engineering school.
AFROTC also offers scholarships for nursing majors, some technical majors and some language majors depending on graduation date and current shortages. For more information, contact the Aerospace Studies Department.
Angelo State University’s ROTC Scholarships
Carr ROTC Scholarships
Available only at Angelo State University
No military obligation. Almost 80 percent of all Detachment 847 cadets benefit from this scholarship. Up to $1,500 cash awarded per student each year. Renewable annually. Students receive this in addition to any other scholarships.
Wright Scholarship
Available only at Angelo State University
This scholarship fund was created with a contribution from the late Chuck and Lois Wright. Deserving sophomore cadets and upperclassmen are awarded $1,000 a year. Students may receive this in addition to any other scholarships.
Durso Scholarship
Available only at Angelo State University
This scholarship fund was created with a contribution from the late Rocco F. Durso. Up to $2,500 each year is awarded to deserving students, with preference given to San Angelo Lake View High School JROTC cadets. Students may receive this in addition to any other scholarships.
