Anna Romero has a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She is currently in her last term in the Nursing Program. This is her second semester with SI. This spring Anna will support both LECTURE and LAB for BIO 2424: Human Physiology. Anna is also a member of the Student Nurses’ Association.

Anna Ermakova is a junior, majoring in Psychology with a minor in French. Anna is the SI Leader for MATH 1302: College Algebra. Before SI, Anna worked as a mathematics tutor in the ASU Math Lab. Anna already has a Business & Management degree from Moscow University Touro in Russia.

Chelsea Preas is a junior, majoring in English with a minor in Journalism. Chelsea is the SI Leader for HIST 1301/1302. Chelsea enjoys the challenge of sparking students’ interest while helping them to succeed in this difficult course. “Every student and professor is different,” she says; “it’s all a matter of translating the needs of each to a finished product.”

Human Anatomy LECTURE

Matt Jackson is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. This is Matt’s first semester as an SI Leader. Matt and another SI Leader, Erica Schalek, team up to support BIO 2423: Human Anatomy—Matt supports the Anatomy LECTURE portion while Erica supports the Anatomy LAB. In addition to his SI work, Matt is an Honors Program Mentor, as well as a member of Tri-Beta and Alpha Chi. Matt became an SI Leader to help friends with a subject he enjoys. After graduation Matt plans on attending Medical School in San Antonio.

Erica Schalek is a sophomore Biology major with a minor in Chemistry. This is Erica’s first semester as an SI Leader. She and her SI Leader colleague, Matt Jackson, team up to support BIO 2423: Human Anatomy—Erica supports the LAB portion while Matt supports the LECTURE. Off campus, Erica devotes a lot of time to community service, volunteering with Meals for the Elderly, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, and the Adult Literacy Council. Erica chose to be an SI Leader because she “wants to help people do their best.” After graduation, Erica hopes to attend Medical School to pursue her goal of becoming a doctor.

Heather Guthrie is a senior with a double major in Government and Modern Languages and a minor in English. This is Heather’s first semester as an SI Leader, supporting GOVT 2302: Federal & State Government with Dr. Roberto Garza. Besides SI, Heather is a member of the Honors Program, Alpha Chi, Pi Sigma Alpha, Sigma Tau Delta, Alpha Mu Gamma, and Alpha Lambda Delta. Heather loves to travel and after graduation she would like to live abroad and work for the U.S. Government in politics or international education.

Katy Kirchhoff is a junior Chemistry major with a minor in Physics. This is Katy’s first semester as an SI Leader, supporting the general chemistry sequence CHEM 1411 (fall term) and CHEM 1412 (spring term) with Dr. David Carter. In addition to her SI work, Katy is an ASU cheerleader. Katy became an SI Leader because she has a “passion for helping others learn.” Upon graduation, Katy plans to teach high school chemistry and physics, as well as attend Graduate School.

Man & the Environment

Jason Bodiford is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. This is Jason’s first semester as an SI Leader, supporting BIO 1411: Man & the Environment with Dr. Michael Dixon. Jason became an SI Leader to help fellow students better understand biology—a subject he enjoys. Jason is the President of the Honors Student Association and a Beta Representative of Tri-Beta. Off campus, Jason is a gymnastics coach for the San Angelo ISD, as well as a nationally-rated gymnastics judge. Upon graduation Jason plans to attend Medical School.
