Effort Reporting and Certification
Title 2 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 220, Appendix A, Section J.10. states that institutions providing compensation to employees under sponsored agreements must have a procedure for documenting and confirming the distribution of charges for personal services.
To comply with this regulation, ASU requires faculty and staff to complete a monthly effort report if they are 1) receiving compensation from a sponsored program account, or 2) contributing time to a sponsored project (cost sharing). The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) prepares and distributes this report at the beginning of each month. Signed forms are due back to the OSP by the 20th day of each month.
