Tutor Educate Advise Mentor (TEAM) Program

The TEAM Office is committed to providing a personal education for each of our students, and the TEAM Program is a key part of this goal. When faculty or staff members become concerned about the physical, emotional or academic state of a student, they are encouraged to make use of the TEAM Program. TEAM assesses the student’s situation, offering support and providing referrals to resources on campus.

At-risk behaviors include:

  • Excessive or frequent absences
  • Low grades or incomplete assignments
  • Lack of participation
  • Lack of basic skills
  • Changes in and/or neglect of personal hygiene
  • Expressed desire to withdraw from school

TEAM Process

  1. A faculty or staff member refers a student exhibiting at-risk behaviors to TEAM Office using an online form.
  2. An advisor contacts the student by telephone, e-mail and/or postcard.
  3. The advisor counsels the student and provides information on:
    • Supplemental Instruction
    • Tutoring meeting times and dates
    • Academic Advising
    • Career Development
  4. The student is also given the contact information of the referring professor and encouraged to contact him/her as soon as possible.
