Tutor Educate Advise Mentor (TEAM) Program
The TEAM Office is committed to providing a personal education for each of our students, and the TEAM Program is a key part of this goal. When faculty or staff members become concerned about the physical, emotional or academic state of a student, they are encouraged to make use of the TEAM Program. TEAM assesses the student’s situation, offering support and providing referrals to resources on campus.
At-risk behaviors include:
- Excessive or frequent absences
- Low grades or incomplete assignments
- Lack of participation
- Lack of basic skills
- Changes in and/or neglect of personal hygiene
- Expressed desire to withdraw from school
TEAM Process
- A faculty or staff member refers a student exhibiting at-risk behaviors to TEAM Office using an online form.
- An advisor contacts the student by telephone, e-mail and/or postcard.
- The advisor counsels the student and provides information on:
- Supplemental Instruction
- Tutoring meeting times and dates
- Academic Advising
- Career Development
- The student is also given the contact information of the referring professor and encouraged to contact him/her as soon as possible.
