University Recreation (UREC)

Mission Statement

Our mission is to engage the campus community with recreation and wellness programs designed to stimulate growth and development by enhancing healthy lifestyles through participation opportunities, educational experiences, and supportive services. Through recreational involvement, UREC provides a safe and contemporary environment for social interaction while improving sportsmanship and fostering leadership development.

Vision Statement

Angelo State University Recreation will continue to be recognized nationally as a premiere department in recreational services. Our strategic vision encompasses dynamic programs and services dedicated to develop the holistic education of students and foster a vibrant and diverse campus community while complimenting the academic curriculum.

    First-Year Quest is intended for incoming Freshman and Transfer students.

    Join Outdoor Adventures and Orientation Programs opening weekend as we take all first-year Angelo State University students on an adventure worth remembering. Come wearing closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing - everything else will be left as a surprise.

  • 2:00pm - 6:00pm: Kayak Workshop
    Come, join UREC - Outdoor Adventures during The Rambunctious Weekend Welcome Back Picnic for a round of activities on Lake Nasworthy. This event is intended for ASU students. Don’t forget your swimsuit, towel, and your flippy floppies!

    Join Outdoor Adventures every Thursday night in September and October for trail runs. These will be informal group runs aimed at having fun and teaching individuals how to run on trails. Check our Facebook page for location and cancellations (due to weather).

    This is the trip that will blow your normal weekends away! We will be playing all day at the Texas Ski Ranch on wakeboards, kneeboards, and other equipment. No need to worry about boats or experience, we will be pulled by a state-of-the-art cable system designed for this type of fun. After shredding at TSR, we’ll spend the night at a relaxing campsite sharing our day’s stories over a campfire. Then, we’ll round the weekend, and your tan off by floating the Comal or Guadalupe River the next day. Transportation, equipment, instruction, and food included.  What a steal!

BECOME AN OFFICIAL

Interested in being paid to officiate ASU intramural sports? Men and women are needed.  No experience is necessary.

Check out the ASU Officials’ Association for information about training.
