This year’s host committee is proud to present Manny Campos and Joshua Heimbecker. 

Keynote Speaker: Laurence Parent

Laurence Parent was born and raised in New Mexico. After receiving a petroleum engineering degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 1981, he practiced engineering for six years before becoming a freelance photographer and writer specializing in landscape, travel, architecture, and nature subjects. Laurence has had 41 books published. His latest is Photographing Austin, San Antonio & the Texas Hill Country in 2012, preceded by Texas State Cemetery in 2011 and Death in Big Bend, a book on fatalities and rescues at Big Bend National Park, in 2010. A large format color book, Big River, Rio Grande, was released in the fall of 2009. Another large format book, Portrait of Austin, was released in October of 2008. Hundreds of his photos appear in calendars every year. His magazine article and photo credits include National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Outside, Backpacker, Sierra, Natural History, National Parks, Newsweek, Arizona Highways, Travel & Leisure, and the New York Times. He contributes regularly to regional publications such as Texas Highways, Texas Monthly, New Mexico Magazine, and Texas Parks & Wildlife. Laurence’s commercial clients include Temple-Inland, Southwest Airlines, and BBVA Compass Banks.
