What is Priority Certification? Priority Certification is an optional program that allows you to be among the first to have your enrollment submitted to VA each term. In order to guarantee that your VA benefits are processed by the time tuition and fees are due for the upcoming terms, and ensure timely delivery of your VA payments, please schedule an appointment for Priority Certification as soon as you are registered for Summer II and/or Fall 2014. The appointment will take about 20 minutes, and your enrollment will be certified to VA before you leave the office*. The deadline for Priority Certification by appointment is June 9, 2014 for Summer II, and July 18 for Fall 2014. Click here to select an appointment time. What if I don’t live near San Angelo and can’t be there for an appointment? We understand that not all students are able to come in for an appointment, but we strongly encourage those who can to do so. During your Priority Certification appointment, you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your benefits, and you will be given individual attention in order for our staff to process your file and send it to VA for payment. We are accepting telephone appointments for those who are unable to travel to campus (online students, those living out of town, etc.). Before your telephone appointment, you will need to submit a Request for Certification of Enrollment and a Statement of Understanding, and you must be enrolled in classes for the upcoming semester before your appointment time. What if I just want to do it the old-fashioned way? Still not convinced you want an appointment for Priority Certification? We can process your file the same way we have in the past. Just submit a Request for Certification of Enrollment and a Statement of Understanding (this is a new form that is required for all students receiving VA Educational Benefits), and we will process your file in the order it was received. Both forms can be submitted via email, fax, U.S. Mail or in person in the VETS Center.
Walk-in appointments will be conducted on Thursdays and Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from June 5, 2014 to July 25, 2014 . Check our calendar for exceptions.
*The following situations will prevent us from certifying all or part of your enrollment during your Priority Certification appointment:
- If your file is incomplete, or if you have not registered for classes, we will not be able to certify your enrollment to VA during your appointment.
- If you are re-enrolled in courses that you are taking during the current term, we cannot certify those courses to VA until grades are issued at the end of the term. You will be responsible for following up with us after you receive your final grades for the unreported courses.
- If you are enrolled in courses that are not on your degree plan, we will need course substitution information from your department before we can submit those courses to VA. All other courses will be submitted to VA at the time of your appointment.
