Cynthia Burkhalter

My name is Cindy Burkhalter, and I am currently the Interim Director of the Writing Center. I also teach half-time in the Department of English, assisting with the Developmental Program. My educational background includes a B.S. and M.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University and an M.A. in English from Angelo State University.

My experience with the Writing Center goes back to the early 1990s when I actually worked as a tutor. As an instructor, I also consult with the tutors in the Writing Center whenever I suggest that my students visit the Center.

Because I love the challenge of helping students become better writers, I thoroughly enjoy teaching and my time in the Writing Center. I also enjoy reading, gardening, quilting, painting, and most outdoor activities. Spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren, is the high point of any day.

The tutors who work in the Writing Center are students and skilled writers themselves; they have a sincere desire to help other students become confident, resourceful writers. Without reservation, it has been my experience that students who utilize the services of the Writing Center do benefit.
