About Us
Community Development Initiatives (CDI), the City of San Angelo, and a collaboration of rental housing stakeholders, came together to create the San Angelo Rental Housing Mediation Services (SARHMS) program. The program calls for CDI to coordinate a community coalition of city departments, realtors, apartment owners, legal advisors, and neighborhood organizing groups to mediate solutions for code violations and other fair housing disputes involving low- or moderate-income rental households in San Angelo. Beginning in the fall of 2012, CDI employs ASU students to provide technical assistance to the collaborative by developing documentation related to alleged dispute incidents and by managing cases through the counseling and remediation services provided by the coalition members. CDI also coordinates several public education and information workshops and public forums on landlord/tenant rights and Fair Housing Law developed and provided by coalition collaborators.
