Blackboard The "Blackboard Learning System" will be used for posting grades and lecture material. You can access this web site from any computer. Your user name is your first initial followed by your last name and then possibly a number (for example: mdixon2). Your password is your RAMS PIN number.

I will be using Blackboard to contact you via e-mail so make sure the address is an account that you check regularly.

Text Book "Environment: The Science Behind the Stories" has a variety of online resources to help you learn.

Take advantage of them!

LaboratoryYou registered for a 2-hour lab in addition to your lecture section. Labs WILL NOT meet the first week of the semester.

You will need access to the Lab Web Page.

The Moon Lecture I will award extra credit for attending one of the two Moon Lectures and turning in a summary.

I'll give you more information about this later in the semester.

The Tragedy of the CommonsGarrett Hardin (1915-2003), a biologist originally from Texas, wrote a controversial essay in 1968, "The Tragedy of the Commons." This essay posits that the population problem has no technical solution; it requires a fundamental extension in morality.

You can read the original here. I have also edited it down (from over 6,000 words to about 2,400). My condensed version is online here or you can download a Word document here.

You have until the end of the week (Friday, January 25) to complete the Blackboard quiz.
