This is the home page for Paul Swets' Fall 2008 Math 1332-040 Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics course.  Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM in MCS 210.

This course is designed to introduce students to the power and beauty of modern mathematics, as well as to the wide variety of mathematics in use in the world around them.  Our goal is to lead students to see contemporary mathematics as a rich and applicable subject.

Among the topics we will discuss in Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics are:

bulletvoting theory;
bulletnumber theory;
bulletpaths and networks;
bulletprobability; and
bulletapportionment.
