This is the home page for Dr. Paul K. Swets' Fall 2008 Math 3311-010 Elementary Number Theory course.  Number Theory meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 - 10:45 AM in RAS 100.

The goal of this course is to discover and investigate some interesting properties of the integers. We will also work hard on constructing, analyzing, and understanding proofs.  Among the topics we will investigate are

bulletdivisibility and GCDs,
bulletDiophantine equations,
bulletcongruences,
bullettheorems of Fermat and Euler,
bulletprimes, Mersenne primes, and perfect numbers,
bulletpowers and roots modulo p,
