Standards of Accreditation
Angelo State University maintains institutional accreditation through the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Commission’s mission is “the enhancement of educational quality throughout the region, and it strives to improve the effectiveness of institutions by ensuring that institutions meet standards established by the higher education community that address the needs of society and students” (from the SACS-COC website).
- The SACS-COC website provides an overview of guidelines and resources.
- Within the website, the Principles of Accreditation outline the standards by which members are reviewed in accordance with the SACS-COC mission.
SACS-COC requires that each member institution reaffirm its accreditation every 10 years. ASU completed its decennial review in 2012–13.
ASU submitted its compliance certification, jointly authored by a committee of faculty and administrators, for off-site review in September 2012.
