A manageable amount of stress can keep us on task and motivated to accomplish
our goals and objectives. When we allow our stress level to become burdensome,
however, stress can make us ineffective and may even lead to problems such
as anxiety or depression. This presentation will define the concepts of
stress and anxiety, and will examine causes and symptoms of stress-related
problems and disorders. A variety of stress management options will be discussed,
and if time permits, students will practice one method of relaxation therapy
as a stress reduction technique.

Communication is the critical ingredient in efforts to improve quality,
encourage innovation and initiative, and build productive teamwork. But
good communication skills don’t come naturally. People may possess
the technical skills required of their jobs, but need help with the interpersonal
aspect of getting the job done. In this session, you will learn to open
discussions in a way that encourages others to participate, promote a free
exchange of innovative ideas and information, and summarize agreements and
action steps so that all involved understand what needs to happen next.
