Meat and Food Science

Prospective Students

Angelo State University and the Department of Agriculture's Meat and Food Science program wish to extend a welcome to all students. The Meat and Food Science program offers an array of informative, instructional, interesting and fun opportunities for interested students. The Meat and Food Science program has a diverse course offering to serve student interests and career goals. The section also offers several extracurricular judging, research and outreach activities.

With its newly constructed $1.6 million Food Safety and Product Development Laboratory, students at Angelo State University have the oppurtunity to harvest, process and distribute case-ready products to the public, as well as assist in the laboratory testing for microbiological pathogens in the harvested livestock.

This provides not only an outlet for students to promote their school, but also allows for valuable learning experiences unattainable in the classroom setting. Working with professors, graduate students and undergraduates, students will exercise teamwork and be exposed to vital techniques imperative to their future careers.
