Sisterhood
Night
The parties at each of
the sororities you may visit will last forty-five minutes. This allows a recruit
to enjoy conversations and meet sorority members. There will be entertainment
and sisterhood activities. Sigma Kappa members will be sharing the bond of
friendship between sorority sisters and recruits.
This is the time that a recruit should start thinking about where she feels most comfortable, and which sorority could be her best home away from home.
Philanthropy
Night
On this day a recruit may attend both sororities' parties;
the events are casual and fun. The recruits will be wearing informal attire and
working on projects for Sigma Kappa's philanthropies. Conversation will be
focused on service and any questions the recruit may have.
Preference
Night
This is the most significant day of recruitment. A recruit
may attend each sororities' hour long preference party, at which she may be
paired with one member who has been special to her
during the week.
This round can be the most emotional step of the sorority recruitment process because it is during preference night that the recruit must decide which sorority she would like to join. The parties are usually serious and subdued. During preference night, the recruit should think back upon the previous nights and recall what she liked best about each sorority.
This will help her to form a complete impression of the sororities and help her to decide where she feels most comfortable. A recruit should base her decision on her own feelings, not on any outside influence.
Bid
Day
On bid day, a recruit may
receive a bid from a sorority. Bid Day activities begin in the morning. After
she receives a bid, the new recruit will join her new sorority sisters outside
of the building where Bid Day takes place. She should plan on spending the rest
of that day and the remainder of the weekend with her New Member class.
