Sigma Kappa stresses the importance of scholarship in sorority life.

Each sorority has its own grade point average requirements for pledging and initiation. Although there is no minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) for participating in recruitment, a woman's chances of receiving a bid are greatly reduced if her GPA falls below a 2.5.

Most sororities have a national GPA requirement for initiation, which is different for each sorority. Once initiated, a sister must maintain a sufficient GPA to remain in good standing with her sorority, thus enabling her to vote on important matters within the sorority and being able to attend social events.

The minimum GPA a Sigma Kappa Sorority member must maintain to remain in good standing is a 2.25 cumulative and prior semester GPA.

All Sigma Kappa Chairmen must maintain a 2.5 cumulative and prior semester GPA, whereas all Sigma Kappa Executive Officers must maintain a 2.8 cumulative and prior semester GPA.

Most sororities have programs such as specified study hours, "study buddies," and tutoring programs to establish and promote
outstanding scholarship.
