Student Government Association

A place to make a difference

Angelo State University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is not just another campus organization – it is an entity that makes decisions that have an impact on the student body. SGA projects and initiatives tackle everything from studies and exercise to going out and relaxing.

The SGA also gets the real-world experience of working with an annual budget of about $16,000, which goes toward operating expenses, banquets and trips to the Texas Legislature, among other things.

Improving quality of life

About 50 students, including 30 senators, serve on campus committees and give their input about new ASU projects and initiatives. Senators serve one-year terms with elections in April. The SGA meets once a week and includes positions for freshmen looking to get involved.

During the past year, the SGA has gotten the ball rolling on several new projects. The USA Today Program makes newspapers available to students daily, a paper recycling program was started and covered student gathering areas were established. Check out a full list of current initiatives.

What’s next?

The possibilities of student life improvement are endless. The SGA works continuously to publicize what the group is doing. If you would like to voice a concern or get involved, call (325) 942-2063.
