Current Initiatives

Angelo State University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is working on these initiatives:

Student Discount Program

We have been working all summer and through the fall to bring local businesses and ASU together by offering special discounts for students. For a complete list of businesses follow this link: Student Discount

Council of Student Organization Presidents

We have over 100 registered student organizations on campus and that makes communication, event planning and funding major topics of discussion. This council helps each organization reach its full potential by stressing:

  1. Member Retention
  2. Working efficiently, cooperatively and progressively with the Center for Student Involvement
  3. Working better together

The council’s meetings are held every 4th Wednesday at 6p.m. for location and other details, email SGA

The “Rammy” Awards

This is the biggest awards banquet on campus and this year’s event will be the greatest in its 11-year history. Student organizations will be able to sign up to present awards in early spring and will have the opportunity to be nominated for different awards given by the SGA. The new Student Government President and Vice President are sworn in at this ceremony as well.  The most exciting part of this year’s Rammy Awards is the E. James Hindman Award, which will be displayed in the middle of the University Center for the next school year. The E. James Hindman Award will be given to the student organization that demonstrates itself as the most outstanding in all aspects of student life.

Wednesday Before Thanksgiving

The Student Senate is working with faculty, staff, and administration to address the issue of class attendance on the day before Thanksgiving.

Christmas Tree Project

The student government plans to collaborate with other student organizations to create a beautiful Christmas display next holiday season.
