Current Initiatives

Angelo State University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is working on these initiatives:

True Blue

True Blue is an initiative created to create and foster school spirit among not only ASU, but the community of San Angelo as a whole. The concept of True Blue is simple: everyone in the community wears a blue shirt on Fridays. Several departments have been working together to make of the True Blue a success. Among these departments are: Communications and Marketing, Residential Programs, Center for Student Involvement, Office of Development, Alumni Center, and the Athletic Department, to whom we wish to extend our sincerest gratitude. The kick off for True Blue is scheduled for the 21st of January with several activities that the students will enjoy. We are all very excited about he program and are sure that will help foster school spirit within Angelo State the community of San Angelo.

Student Discount Program

Initiated by former President Jeff Harris, the Student Discount Program has proved to be a success among students and the community. During this current administration, we are working to expand the program even further by inviting even more local businesses to be part of this program. We are also working on making of the Student Discount Program an important part of the True Blue Initiative to bring the community together.

The “Rammy” Awards

This is the biggest awards banquet on campus and this year’s event will be the greatest in its 11-year history. Student organizations will be able to sign up to present awards in early spring and will have the opportunity to be nominated for different awards given by the SGA. The new Student Government President and Vice President are sworn in at this ceremony as well.  The most exciting part of this year’s Rammy Awards is the E. James Hindman Award, which will be displayed in the middle of the University Center for the next school year. The E. James Hindman Award will be given to the student organization that demonstrates itself as the most outstanding in all aspects of student life.

University Health Clinic

The Student Government is in committee meetings to discuss how to make the Health Clinic on campus better to serve the ASU community.
