Welcome to the Beta
Beta Beta Biological Honor Society website at
As our Chapter of Beta Beta Beta celebrates nearly 30 years of excellence and 5 Bertholf Awards, it is fitting to reflect on the people and core values which have greatly contributed to our success. As a chapter, we are passionate about ensuring that the members of Tri-Beta realize their importance. As members actively aim to meet the 3 National Objectives (to promote scholarship in biology, to promote undergraduate research, and to disseminate biological knowledge) they enable ASU’s Chapter to be among the elite. As a chapter, we cherish the loyal relationships we have built with the ASU Biology Faculty, and appreciate the confidence they place in us, as members of Tri-Beta. They are the greatest supporters of our chapter here at ASU and without them we would not be among the nation's elite. We cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication in helping us to be a successful chapter. As a chapter, we are recognized on the Regional and National levels as the most active and successful chapter in the nation, which yields us the privileged to be the Nations only 5 time winner of the Lloyd M. Bertholf Award. As a chapter, we have received numerous awards from the Regional and National levels, as well as various other awards and honors from organizations outside Tri-Beta. As a chapter, we have been acknowledged by our very own ASU Student Government Association as the “Organization of the Year” numerous times. In addition to the organization excelling, Dr. Crosby Jones, faculty advisor of Tri-Beta, has been awarded the “Faculty Advisor of the Year” on multiple occasions. As a chapter, there are many things that we have to offer including but not limited to: 1) Participation in extracurricular activities; 2) Leadership Opportunities; 3) Research Opportunities; 4) Acquaintance with the ASU Biology Faculty; 5) The opportunity to teach small children; and 6) Fellowships with some really great people. As a chapter, we have a lot to look forward to this year. We will be continuing our annual trip to the Head of the River Ranch this fall, we will host a fall and spring Blood Drive, we will be hosting the Regional Convention and the St. Jude Walk in the spring, handing out flyers at the Roy E. Moon Lecture, and we will have some excellent speakers coming to speak about what they do and how they got where they are today. As a chapter, we are most excited about the possibility of your participation in Tri-Beta and the support and enthusiasm that you will bring into our organization. The incoming freshman class helps define the success we will have during the year. As a new member you will gain experience, resources, and friends on many levels. Joining Tri-Beta will dramatically increase your opportunities at ASU and for your future, not to mention all the fun you will have while doing so. Finally, as the chapter president, I want to extend an invitation for you to contact our chapter of Tri-Beta with any questions or concerns that you may have about Tri-Beta at tribeta@angelo.edu and we look forward to meeting and getting to know you in the Fall. With best wishes for every success. Sincerely,
Halley Newman President, Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Beta Beta Beta
