Recycling Information
Recycling Paper
Place recyclable paper loose in your recycling cart. Do NOT use plastic bags. These are papers that can be recycled:
- Newspapers and inserts
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Junk mail and envelopes (No product samples; envelope labels and windows are OK)
- Boxboard (thin cardboard, like cereal boxes, shoe boxes, soda cartons, etc.)
- Holiday and greeting cards
- Wrapping paper (but not ribbons and bows)
- Phone books
- Home office paper (stickies, manilla envelopes and file folders and paper ream wrappers are OK)
- Paper bags, except gift bags
These Papers Cannot Be Recycled:
- Pizza boxes
- Wet, soiled or food-stained paper
- Paper towels, facial or toilet tissue
- Disposable paper plates and cups (disposable plastic plates and cups can be recycled after rinsing)
- Gift bags
- Milk and juice cartons
Shredded Paper
You can recycle shredded paper, as long as the paper met the recycling guidelines before it was shredded. Please use paper bags to hold shredded paper and place it in your recycling cart. Do not place shredded paper in plastic bags.
Recycling Plastic
Rigid plastics with the recycling numbers 1 through 7 are recyclable.
Recyclable Plastic to Put in Your Recycle Cart:
- Water, soda and juice bottles
- Milk jugs
- Shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap bottles
- Detergent bottles
- Bleach and all-purpose cleaner bottles
- Margarine tubs and yogurt containers
- Empty medicine bottles
- Clean frozen food trays
- Plastic lids from bottles
- Plastic takeout containers
- Plastic produce containers
- Plastic disposable plates, cups and utensils (check for recycling number)
Rinse all food waste from recyclables before placing in recycling cart. Do NOT put these pastics in your recycling cart:
Recycling Corrugated Cardboard
All corrugated cardboard can go into the blue dumpster, marked “Cardboard.” If necessary, please flatten or cut down the cardboard to fit in the dumpster.
Pizza boxes and any cardboard with food residue belongs in your garbage cart.
What is Corrugated Cardboard?
Corrugated cardboard is thick and has a wavy middle layer. Moving and mailing boxes are usually made from corrugated cardboard.
