Appointments
The Director will meet with current students or alumni of Angelo State University. Appointments for prospective students of Angelo State University can be scheduled with Director's approval.
Library
Items from the Career Development library cannot be checked out. Clients/Alumni may use items from the library and make copies of information they would like to take with them.
Office Equipment
Office equipment can be used by employers and students/alumni within reason. Companies may have copies made, send faxes and make long -distance telephone calls if needed. Students/alumni can have no more than 10 copies made. They may fax resumes to companies as long as the company has a working relationship with the Career Development office. Students may not make long-distance telephone calls.
- Employers who wish to conduct on-campus interviews must be hiring for specific positions within an identified company/organization.
- Employers who wish to conduct on-campus interviews must complete an Interview Request and Schedule form.
- Employers who wish to conduct an information session are responsible for making the catering arrangements with Chartwell's.
- Employers who wish to utilize ASU media equipment for presentations will specify their needs and Career Development will make the necessary arrangements.
- Employers with outstanding fees from past job fairs will not be allowed to recruit on campus through Career Development until the fee is paid in full.
- Current ASU students and ASU alumni may participate in on-campus recruitment efforts.
- To participate in on-campus recruitment, individuals must have completed a career profile with the Center for Career Development.
- Individuals who sign up to interview with a company have until 24 hours prior their scheduled interview to withdraw themselves from the process.
- Individuals who do not show up for their scheduled interview will be
called at the number provided in their career profile by a member of the
Center for Career Development staff before 6:00 p.m. on the day the
interview was missed to remind them of (a) and (b).
- (a) Individuals who do not show up for a schedules interview will write a letter of apology to the representative of company with whom they were scheduled to interview within 48 hours of their original interview time. A copy of the letter will be provided to the Center for Career Development.
- (b) Individuals who do not show up for their interview and who fail to write a letter of apology and provide a copy of the letter to the Center for Career Development within the designated time frame will be removed from all future interviewing schedules. And, their Career Profile will be made inactive until this process is completed.
- By signing up for an interview with a company, the individual certify they meet the minimum qualifications as specified by that employer as stated in the on campus recruitment forms the employer completes for the Center for Career Development.
Part-time jobs
Part-time jobs to be entered on web page must offer monetary compensation, be local or a reasonable distance from Angelo State University and be for a specific position. Part-time jobs will be posted within 24 hours.
Referrals
If a determination is made during the intake interview--or at anytime during the counseling process--that your requirements are beyond the scope or capability of the Center, you will be referred to an outside individual or agency which offers more appropriate services. You will be responsible for the cost of services received from such individuals or agencies.
Testing: In-house
Clients interested in testing must meet with the Director first. The Director will determine need for assessment as well as appropriateness of assessment to be administered for career counseling. Students wishing to complete the CISS elsewhere may do so, but must return the assessment to Career Development to be mailed out for scanning/scoring.
Testing - Outside Companies
No outside testing will be administered by the Career Development staff for companies or other universities. Testing needs should be referred to the Division of Extended Studies.
Web Pages
The Career Development web Page will be corrected and/or updated by the Office Coordinator. Any changes or corrections that need to be made should be submitted as soon as the change or correction is known. Links, changes, corrections, or other information supplied for the web page will be approved by the Director. The web page will ultimately be under review of the Web Oversight Committee.
Web Pages
The Career Development office reserves the right to deny an advertiser whose posting, in the judgment of this office, is not in the students' best interest. Such denial is done without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin or conditions of disability.
- The employment opportunity involves on-campus solicitation or on-campus sales.
- The student is required to purchase or rent any type of sales kit or presentation supplies.
- The work assignment interferes with or negatively affects the academic progress of the student or requires or encourages a student to discontinue his/her academic program of study.
