ASU Honors Program Receives Matching Grant from Abell-Hanger Foundation
The Abell-Hanger Foundation of Midland has issued a matching grant of $4,350 to help support activities of the Angelo State University Honors Program during the 2006-07 academic year.
The grant requires the Honors Program to raise comparable dollars from other sources between March 1 and Aug. 31 of this year as part of the grant stipulation.
In expressing thanks to the Abell-Hanger Foundation, Honors Program Director Dr. Nick Flynn said the funds will be used to support various honors activities, including class field trips, attendance at cultural events and research presentations at regional and national meetings.
"We are excited about this opportunity," Flynn said, "because it gives us an opportunity to get our development initiatives off the ground for the Honors Program. Funds that we raise as a result of this matching grant will allow us to continue some of our enrichment initiatives."
Flynn said the matching funds would be raised through individual and group donations.
The ASU Honors Program belongs to both the regional Great Plains Honors Council and the National Collegiate Honors Council.
