Angelo State University will welcome the Class of 2010 and returning students when fall classes begin at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, on campus.

A variety of welcoming events have been scheduled Friday through Sunday as part of "Rambunctious Weekend '06: The Start of Something Great" to help newcomers get acquainted. These activities begin noon Friday with a hamburger cookout at the Pavilion; a multi-cultural and first generational student reception at 3 p.m. in the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center; Playfair activities at 7 p.m. at the Center for Human Performance; and a 9 p.m. outdoor movie at the Slab.
Rambunctious Weekend activities on Saturday include sand volleyball, horseshoes and other games at 4 p.m. outside the Food Service Center and snack bar and a 6:30 p.m. Pavilion pep rally, featuring Roscoe, the Ram Band, ASU Cheerleaders and the Angelettes. The pep rally will be followed at 8:30 p.m. with a show by hypnotist Michael C. Anthony.
Sunday activities will include a 3 p.m. Party at the Pool with fun and games, culminating with a fajita dinner.
The home sports season will begin Sunday at 3 p.m. when the ASU soccer team takes on the College of the Southwest at the Varsity Soccer Field. The volleyball team opens at home against Cameron at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
The Ram football team will begin its 2006 campaign on Sept. 2 against Western Colorado. ASU's evening football games this year will start at 6 p.m. rather than an hour later as in past years. Football games will be broadcast on KIXY-FM, 94.7.

The year's first meeting, featuring ASU players and coaches, will be Monday, Aug. 28, in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center in the Houston Harte University Center. Cost is $8.25 for the meal.
