Rosemont Drive to Close for Approximately 3 Months
Rosemont Drive between Avenue N and Shamrock Drive on the Angelo State University campus will be closed for approximately three months, beginning Monday, Oct. 23, to accommodate construction activities on the building of the university's new residence hall.
The Rosemont closure will reduce access to the Houston Harte University Center to the south entry to the UC parking lot. The closure will also mean that Carr Residence Hall will be accessible only from Avenue N.
John H. Russell, ASU's director of facilities planning and construction, said the closure is necessary to ensure public safety and to expedite construction of Centennial Village, the university's $19.6 million residence hall scheduled to open for the fall of 2007.
NE Construction, Ltd., of Lewisville is the contractor on the three-story, 500-bed residence hall being built on the northwest corner of the ASU campus on the site once occupied by the Rosemont Apartments.
If construction stays on schedule with a minimum of weather delays, Rosemont will be re-opened around Feb. 1.
