Angelo State University ’s Livestock Show Team took two first-place ribbons and placed in every category with its Rambouillet sheep last week at the 2007 San Angelo Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The six-member team entered 12 Rambouillet sheep in the Open Breed Sheep Show and, among 77 entries, placed first in the Pair of Ram Lambs and Two Tooth Ram categories. Team members also placed second in the Ram Lamb contest and added six third-place finishes, two fourths and one sixth.

Lambs are less than a year old, two tooth sheep are a year old, and four to six tooth sheep are two or three years old.

Show team members include graduate assistant Chase Settle, senior Aaron Gillespie and freshmen Lura Hayes, Lauren Kaker, Melissa Yamma and Kayla Brooks. They work with a flock of 20 sheep, of which 12 can be taken to each competition. The rams weigh as much as 350 pounds, with the ewes tipping the scales at up to 275 pounds.

The San Angelo Stock Show was the final competition for the ASU Livestock Show Team this year.
