The Angelo State University Friends of Art and Music Education (FAME) will sponsor their 10th Annual Showcase Concert and Plate Auction Tuesday, March 6, in the University Auditorium.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. March 6 with tickets priced at $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. The University Auditorium is located in the ASU Administration Building, 2601 W. Ave N.
Patrons will be able to offer bids on the plates created by local artists and celebrities in a silent auction format. The winning bids for each plate will be announced during the concert.
The concert will feature performances by a variety of ensembles from ASU’s music program, including the Jazz Ensemble, Opera/Theater Workshop, Brass Choir, Concert Chorale and Wind Ensemble, plus several student and faculty soloists. The musical program will include jazz standards, Broadway hits and dance numbers by several notable composers.
All proceeds from the concert and auction will go toward funding scholarships for ASU art and music students. Over the last nine years, FAME has provided in excess of $100,000 to support more than 210 students in their artistic and academic endeavors.
Tickets are available in advance or at the door. For more information, or to purchase advance tickets, call the ASU Department of Art and Music at 942-2085.
