New Student Art Gallery Opening at ASU

Angelo State University’s Department of Art and Music is inviting the public to join the campus community for the opening of the new Student Art Gallery Thursday, Oct. 11, in the ASU Porter Henderson Library.

The new gallery is located in the Quiet Study Room on the second floor of the library. The opening reception will begin at 4 p.m. and is open free to the public.

The first display in the gallery will be made up of student prints collected over the last 15 years. The ASU art program plans to hold three shows a year in the gallery to give both the ASU and Concho Valley communities the opportunity to view the works of campus art students.

This is the third collaborative effort between the library and the art program. The first two projects were the sculpture display in the library’s basement stairwell landing and the mural that accents the library’s Juvenile Collection.

For more information on the gallery opening reception, call the ASU library at 942-2222, Ext. 221.
