ASU Silver Wings Member Wins Regional Honor
Jodie Hale, a senior physics major at Angelo State University, has been named the Region Member of the Month for Silver Wings, an auxiliary civilian student organization that supports AFROTC.
Hale is a member of ASU’s Carr Chapter of Silver Wings. According to information received from the regional office, she was awarded the September Member of the Month honor for having a “tremendous impact on the organization” and “helping reestablish Silver Wings as a viable organization on campus.” She is now also a candidate for National Member of the Month.
During September, Hale organized several fund raisers, including a successful bake sale where she spent over 12 hours baking, setting up and selling to the public. Her efforts led to a new $600 budget balance for the organization.
“She has worked to bring back the professionalism that is a hallmark of the Silver Wings organization,” said Maj. Robb Reynolds, ASU Commandant of Cadets.
Silver Wings is a sister organization to the Arnold Air Society, which is composed of ROTC cadets. Its members perform community service projects and bring professional speakers to campus.
