R&B Artist to Perform at ASU Club Caf

Angelo State University's Club Caf coffee house entertainment series will kick off its fall semester performances with up-and-coming R&B/soul artist Rudy Currence Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the Houston Harte University Center.

Currence will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the University Center's C.J. Davidson Conference Center. Admission price is $1 and all those who attend will receive a free Club Caf coffee mug. Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate and light refreshments will be served.

After writing songs for other successful artists, most notably Mya and Ray-J, Currence is in the midst of a college campus tour promoting his new CD "Here With You." He will also perform songs from his award-winning debut CD "More Than You'll Ever Know" that garnered Currence a 2005 ASCAP songwriter award and a nomination for best independent R&B album from the Southern Entertainment Awards.

Currence's musical resume also includes several songs contributed to the popular movie soundtracks for "Minority Report" and "The Bourne Identity." The ASCAP Network web site refers to him as "a talented young R&B/soul artist whose first solo CD is a testament to his skill as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist," and describes his performance as musically diverse and compelling.

Samples of Currence's music are available online at http://cdbaby.com/cd/currence2, http://www.thecollegeagency.com/artists/rudy_currence.cfm and http://www.myspace.com/rudycurrencemusic.
