Memorial Service for Two ASU Students
Two Angelo State University students—Tracy P. Glass and Marco A Flores— will be remembered at memorial service at 5 p.m. Monday, April 21, at the Memorial Oak Grove east of the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.
The service will include a special candlelight ceremony and time of remembrance to honor the lives of Glass and Flores.
Glass, a sophomore management major from Rowena, died in an accidental shooting August 4 in San Antonio.
Flores died in a car wreck March 1. He was a sophomore management and marketing major and graduate of Central High School.
Each year, the ASU Student Government Association coordinates the memorial to remember ASU students who have died during the academic year. Friends and family of the deceased are invited to the ceremony.
The Memorial Oak Grove was planted in 1949 to honor the 29 San Angelo College students who died in World War II. It is tradition to use the Memorial Oak Grove for ASU memorials and vigils because it stands as a physical reminder that all former students who died prematurely are not forgotten.
