Texas 3rd Court of Appeals Coming to Angelo State
Angelo State University will host a regular session of the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Houston Harte University Center.
Justices will hear four cases, each originating in the Concho Valley. The session will run from 2 p.m. to about 5 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center and is open to the public.
Two panels of three judges each will be set up in the conference center. Chief Justice W. Kenneth Law and Justices Bob Pemberton and Alan Waldrop will hear arguments in an oil and gas case from Concho County and a medical malpractice case from Tom Green County. Justices David Puryear, Diane Henson and Waldrop will hear an oil and gas case from Tom Green County and a nuisance case from McCulloch County.
This is the first time for ASU to host an appeals court hearing. Last year, court members conducted their local session at the Tom Green County Courthouse.
The 3rd Court of Appeals has intermediate appellate jurisdiction of civil and criminal cases appealed from lower courts in 24 Texas counties, in civil cases where the judgment rendered exceeds $100, and various other civil and criminal proceedings. Its jurisdiction includes Bastrop, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Coke, Comal, Concho, Fayette, Hays, Irion, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, McCulloch, Milam, Mills, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Sterling, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson counties.
