Angelo State Music Faculty to Perform Original Works
Four Angelo State University music faculty members will perform original works by their colleague, Dr. Stephen Emmons, in a faculty recital on Monday, Oct. 13, in the Eldon Black Recital Hall, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
The 7:30 p.m. recital is open free to the public and features the premiere of three musical works and performances of two other pieces, all composed by Emmons, an assistant professor of music at ASU. In addition, the Mesquite Trio will perform four hymn tune arrangements by Dr. Jeff Womack.
Three of the performers comprise the Mesquite Trio with Dr. Timothy Bonenfant on clarinet, Dr. Jeff Womack on bassoon and Dr. Constance Kelly on flute. The fourth performer of the night, Dr. Eleanor Elkins, plays the piano.
Debuts of Emmons’ works include “Five Places” for bass clarinet and piano, “Three for Three” for the woodwind trio, and “Fuging Machine” for the woodwind trio and piano. Also on the program are “Hymnal Variations” for the woodwind trio and “Seaside” for clarinet and piano.
