ASU Choirs Announce Fall Concert Season
Angelo State University’s choirs will conduct three concerts during the fall semester, including the popular Halloween Spooktacular, a performance honoring the Hispanic tradition of All Souls Day and a holiday show to get people into the spirit of the season.
The annual ASU Choir Spooktacular will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in the City Auditorium, 72 W. College Ave. This year’s performance will be loosely based on the board game “Clue” and will feature the university singers and their special guests, Lee Middle School’s Rebel Rage show choir.
The musical celebration of the Hispanic traditional observance Dia de Los Muertos, or All Souls Day, will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, when the ASU Chamber Singers and Vocal Ensemble present a concert at the Mt. Carmel Hermitage in Christoval.
Francis Poulenc’s “Gloria” and other popular holiday works will fill the sanctuary of Southland Baptist Church, 4300 Meadowcreek Trail, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, two days before Thanksgiving. The ASU Choir will welcome Austin soprano Janeene Williams as guest soloist.
