ASU Student Article Runs in National Fraternity Publication
An article written by Angelo State University business major Spencer Matthews has been published in the March 2009 issue of The DELTASIG, the national magazine of the Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity.
Matthews’ article, titled “Angelo State Brothers Learn about Business, and Life, in China,” details what he and several of other fraternity members learned during ASU’s first-ever study abroad trip to China in December. While studying the effects of a free-market economic system on various areas of China, the group toured factories, manufacturing plants, businesses and financial institutions as well as museums and other cultural attractions.
A member of ASU’s Eta Theta Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, Matthews was accompanied on the trip by fellow “Deltasigs” Jonathan Avera, Kirsta Hoffmann and Chris Stegall as well as about 26 other students. The trip was sponsored and led by Dr. Tom Bankston, Delta Sigma Pi faculty sponsor and head of the ASU Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance, along with Dr. Carol Diminnie, Dr. Bill Wrenforth, Dr. Steve Reames and Dr. Ben Sum.
The DELTASIG magazine is published only three times a year, in March, July and November, and the competition for content space is intense.
