ASU Jazz Band to Present Classics
Angelo State University’s Jazz Band will perform an eclectic repertoire Tuesday, April 14, in the University Auditorium inside the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Ave. N.
The 7:30 p.m. concert is open free to the public.
Featured pieces include the Count Basie classics “Until I Met You” and “April in Paris.” In addition, the ASU musicians will perform “Moanin’” by the Mingus Big Band and “Count Bubba” by Gordon Goodwin.
Other music on the program includes works by George Gershwin, Woody Herman, Bob Mintzer, Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and Tower of Power.
Soloists for the evening are saxophonists Omar Mojica, Adrian Alonso and Tyler Morton; Steven Trinkl playing trombone; and trumpeters Rosendo Ramos, Jason Livingstone and Francisco Villa-Lobos. The ASU Jazz Band is directed by Dr. Tim Bonenfant.
